Six arrested in Apple gift card scam

The scammers used the stolen funds to purchase hundreds of Apple devices in Portland area stores, according to a news release.

The warrants were issued as a result of a monthslong investigation while coordinating with the FBI, multiple local and state police agencies, Apple Inc., and the Tigard Police Commercial Crimes Unit.

The six Portland area residents arrested, all in their twenties, were charged with felonies relating to computer crimes and theft.

Tigard police announced the arrests of Ying Zhang, 26, of Portland; Yiran Liang, 29, of Portland; Gongchao Liu, 23, of Beaverton; Can Wu, 24, of Beaverton, Yu Sun Johnson, 26, of Oregon City.
